I kept to the \u201csafe\u201d herbs. The ones I had heard about over and over such as chamomile and peppermint.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These herbs could be easily grown, found in supermarkets, and consumed by thousands and thousands of people, served in restaurants, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Then, I realized, \u201cwhat if I did the same thing with other herbs?\u201d. <\/span>What if I learned, looked, licked, smelled, touched, talked, grew, gathered,\u00a0 them over and over until I became comfortable with it?\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It worked! My list of \u201csafe\u201d herbs grew!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The more I acquainted myself with a particular \u201cscary\u201d herb, the more comfortable I felt using them in my life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I practice being curious about other herbs that seemed difficult to identify in nature, or herbs that grew thousands of miles away that I\u2019d never seen, or herbs that had bad reputations and contradictory information available.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sometimes that \u201cscared\u201d feeling creeps back in when I encounter a new herb to learn about. Though, I realize now this feeling is trying to keep me safe from the unknown.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The best antidote for that is information, experience, and play!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
