Lol!<\/p>\n <\/p>\nMost herbalists I know would have felt the same about a large-inexpensive-jar-find.<\/p>\n <\/p>\nAs I washed the jars I thought it would be helpful to share my tips on finding, cleaning, and using inexpensive jars.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.25″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/fullcircleherbals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Podcast-blog-Featured-image.png” alt=”a blanket on the ground with empty jars” title_text=”Podcast blog Featured image” _builder_version=”4.13.0″ _module_preset=”default” width=”70%” module_alignment=”center” custom_padding=”|16px||||” global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.13.0″ text_font=”||||||||” text_font_size=”18px” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\nI find used glass jars at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>garage sales<\/li>\n<li>thrift stores<\/li>\n<li>estate sales<\/li>\n<li>friends and family<\/li>\n<li>Discount aisles at outlet stores<\/li>\n<li>Canning aisles at grocery stores<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nI prefer using glass jars for herb storage because:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>can be cleaned easily (plastic tends to hold the scent from previous food stored in it)<\/li>\n<li>it doesn’t off-gas like plastic does<\/li>\n<li>easier to recycle<\/li>\n<li>easier to find all sizes especially during canning season (late summer)<\/li>\n<li>glass keeps out oxygen and scents (over time plastic can absorb other scents from the home)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/fullcircleherbals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Podcast-blog-Featured-image-2.png” alt=”three jars on a table with a dollie, echinacea flowers near” title_text=”Podcast blog Featured image (2)” _builder_version=”4.13.0″ _module_preset=”default” width=”70%” module_alignment=”center” custom_padding=”|16px||||” global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.13.0″ text_font=”||||||||” text_font_size=”18px” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\nOther places to find jars:<\/b><\/p>\nSometimes bars and restaurants will give away the used up their large jars that held pickles and other foods. The trick is finding someone who will at least rinse them and hold them until you pick them up.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/fullcircleherbals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Podcast-blog-Featured-image-4.png” alt=”lady’s mantle yellow flower in forefront and three jars on table in background” title_text=”Podcast blog Featured image (4)” _builder_version=”4.13.0″ _module_preset=”default” width=”70%” module_alignment=”center” custom_padding=”|16px||||” global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.13.0″ text_font=”||||||||” text_font_size=”18px” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\nCleaning tips:<\/b><\/p>\nI use Oxi-clean\u00ae to help get into the small spaces and dissolve away any hardened pigments from the food that might build up over time.<\/span><\/p>\nLarge mouth jars are easier to get my hands into so I can clean at the bottom.<\/span><\/p>\nPurchase different size and length bottle brushes to get along the shoulder of the jar.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/fullcircleherbals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Podcast-blog-Featured-image-1.png” alt=”jars” title_text=”Podcast blog Featured image (1)” _builder_version=”4.13.0″ _module_preset=”default” width=”70%” module_alignment=”center” custom_padding=”|16px||||” global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.13.0″ text_font=”||||||||” text_font_size=”18px” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\nAdditional Tips:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Wide mouth jars are easier to get larger herbs into and out of.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Smaller herbs such as lavender flowers and powdered herbs can go into the smaller mouthed jars.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Darker colored jars can help to keep light out of the jars.
